Introduction
This article is designed to help you understand the fraud risk labels associated with various financial document types uploaded in a VERO application
Supported Document Types
Our platform currently supports the following document types:
- W2 Tax Form
- 1099 Tax Form
- Paystub Upload
- Bank Statement Upload
Fraud Risk Labels
When you upload a document, our system assigns a fraud risk label to help you understand the authenticity of the document. Below are the different fraud risk labels and what they mean:
Very High Risk
High probability of fraud detected.
Identifying information tampered with medium-high confidence (Account #, SSN, Employee ID, name, or address).
High Risk
Potential issues requiring scrutiny identified.
Created using a template, with high confidence.
Balance/income information tampered with medium-high confidence.
Medium Risk
Moderate confidence in the document; some concerns are present.
Document was created in text editor.
Key dates tampered with medium to high confidence.
Editing software was detected.
Transactions/other information tampered.
Fields are misaligned.
VERO will only include documents for Income that are Low Risk
Low Risk
Reflects a strong confidence in the document’s authenticity.
Document is an image with no other signals.
E-PDF with no other signals detected.
Bank fingerprint on PDF confirmed.
Unsupported
The document type is not able to be scanned for fraudulent activity.
Failed
The document could not be processed via OCR, most likely due to an invalid format or file error.
In Progress
Information is automatically being extracted from the document.
Locations Where Fraud Risk Labels Appear
You can view the fraud risk labels in the following places within the application:
• Attachments Page (Application View): Here, you can see the fraud risk labels associated with any uploaded documents.
• Income & Balances Page (Application View): This page displays the fraud risk labels for documents related to income and balances.
How to Use This Information
• Review Carefully: For documents labeled as “Very High Risk” or “High Risk”, we recommend conducting further investigations or requesting additional verification from the document provider.
• Proceed with Caution: For documents labeled as “Medium Risk”, perform a detailed review to address any concerns.
• Standard Review: For documents labeled as “Low Risk”, you can proceed with the standard review process.
